In 1927, the Cranford Historical Society was formed by a group of citizens with a mission to preserve and perpetuate the history of Cranford. Through the years, the Cranford Historical Society has followed through on this mission with events, programs, school tours and much more for the community. It has always been a non-profit educational organization. Our archives have grown through the years out of the generosity of members and the community donating interesting items of the past from their Cranford heritage. Our costume and military collections have also grown tremendously.

We have worked to improve our website and social media sites so that visitors get to see the history of Cranford. This month, the Cranford Historical Society is launching its new website that is part archives, part research portal and part modern view of Cranford.

While upcoming events will continue to be posted, the website’s new homepage will feature a blog, a picture of an object that visitors may guess its identity and purpose, and snapshots of people who made special contributions to the community.

Under the “Explore Cranford History” archives and research section, a click on a picture will open doors to the people and events that have shaped our modern times. Highlights include, “Big Events in Cranford,” “Cranford at War,” “Cranfordites You Should Know” and many more interesting topics.

Blogs, reposts of articles, videos and podcasts will focus on a wide range of topics. Whether visitors are avid watchers of unfolding history, intrigued with our historical past or just enjoy stepping back in time, the website will have something for everyone to explore.

With its postings on Facebook and Instagram, along with the new website, the Cranford Historical Society has entered a new and exciting era.

So we invite you to visit our new website for an educational tour. If you are not already a member of the Cranford Historical Society, we hope you decide to join us. Membership forms can be found on our website at www.cranfordhistoricalsociety.org.
